The objective to organize this visit was to provide students an exposure about practical working environment of CAD-CAM technology and an opportunity to learn through interaction regarding its application in dental laboratories. BCA students of 2nd year attended the industrial visit to the ITS, Muradnagar. Mr. Sandeep Ghambhir gave a presentation related to the dental clinical cases along with their treatments and briefed students about the functionality of CAD-CAM machine. He also explained the students that CAD/CAM is an acronym for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing. Used for decades in the manufacturing industry to produce precision tools, parts and automobiles. CAD/CAM technology and metal-free materials are used by dentists and dental laboratories to provide patients with milled ceramic crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and bridges. Dental CAD/CAM also is used to fabricate abutments for dental implants, used to replace missing teeth. He also provide the scenario about that today’s CAD/CAM restorations are better-fitting, more durable and more natural looking (multi-colored and translucent, similar to natural teeth) than previously machined restorations. After that students were examined by the medical staff for their oral treatment also. Overall educational Trip to I.T.S Dental College, Muradnagar for Demonstration of CAD/CAM Technology for BCA 3rd Semester Students was a successful event.
