The UG Campus of ITS organized a self-defense workshop titled "Aprajita" in association with Amar Ujala Publications on March 5, 2024. The session, led by guest instructor Mr. Pushpendra Rawat, a Black Belt Karate expert, along with the team from Amar Ujala, aimed to empower female students of BBA and BCA with practical self-defense skills. With over 150 attendees, the workshop focused on teaching young women techniques to protect themselves in various situations, promoting confidence and safety in their daily lives. The event commenced with Ms. Nisha Thakur, a reporter from Amar Ujala Publications, introducing the program "Aprajita". Mr. Pushpendra Rawat then engaged with the students, emphasizing swift responses to potential threats, such as using elbows to loosen an assailant's grip. Participants learned about basic Karate moves and how ordinary objects like pens could serve as defensive tools. The interactive session encouraged active participation, with Mr. Pushpendra addressing students' queries expertly. Throughout the workshop, attendees were taught key techniques, including disarming knife-wielding attackers and responding to hair grabs or throat grabs effectively. Mr. Pushpendra Rawat also expressed his gratitude to the Amar Ujala Publication team for their initiative. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and the presentation of a memento to Mr. Pushpendra Rawat and Ms. Nisha Thakur by Professors Monika Sharma, Shreyta Raj, and Kanika Tandon. The event was well-attended by faculty members from the UG campus and the team from Amar Ujala Publication, making it a collaborative effort to promote personal safety and empowerment among young women.
