27-11-2025

On November 27, 2025, the Mass Communication Club at the Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, organized an impactful workshop on Waste Management and Segregation for the students of BBA and BCA. The objective of the event was to create awareness about responsible waste disposal, sustainable practices, and the importance of environmental stewardship among young learners. The session began with a brief introduction by Prof. Amit Sharma, who highlighted the increasing importance of waste management in current times and emphasized the need for responsible environmental behaviour. Following his introduction, Dr. Nancy Sharma, Principal – UG Campus, presented the guests with a memento and a good luck plant, extending a warm welcome on behalf of the institute. She then addressed the gathering, encouraging students to adopt sustainable habits and contribute meaningfully toward building a cleaner and greener society. The technical session commenced with an informative presentation by Mr. Shyam Tayal, Co-Founder of Save Mother Earth Mission, who spoke about the growing challenges of waste accumulation and the significance of small individual actions in environmental protection. This was followed by an insightful session by Ms. Tanu Agarwal, Founder of Save Mother Earth Mission, who explained the 5Rs of sustainability—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. Using a detailed flow-chart, she demonstrated the entire waste-management cycle, including collection, segregation, processing at IPCA centres, and final conversion into reusable materials. A hands-on workshop conducted by Ms. Tanu enabled students to learn practical ways of repurposing plastic waste and discarded materials into creative and useful items. The engaging question-and-answer session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, and those who asked thoughtful questions were appreciated with goodies. An oath for cleanliness and responsible waste management was also administered, reaffirming the collective commitment to a cleaner campus environment. The workshop was attended by more than 100 students of BBA & BCA–I & II Year, along with Dean Academics, Dr. Vidushi Singh, Mass Communication Club Coordinators, Dr. Monika Sharma and Prof. Rama Rani Mishra, Dr. Neeraj Jain, Coordinator – BCA 1st Year, Prof. Amit Sharma, and other faculty members of I.T.S.
