The objectiveof the industry visit was to provide the students an insight into internal working ofcompanies since theoretical knowledge is not enough for a successful professional career.
To fulfil the above objective, ITS Mohan Nagar, UG Campus took the students of BBA & BCA I Year to Mother Dairy, Patparganj, New Delhi. On arrival, the students were gathered in the Seminar Hall where a presentation on the history of Mother Dairy was narrated by Ms. Neha. The students got to know about the 21 quality tests including presence of foreign matter and bacteriological tests. The quality of milk accepted and dispatched meets certain predetermined standards. They also showed various processes such as Clarification, Homogenization, Standardization and Pasteurization, to ensure that it is safe for human consumption. The students had a lot of queries which were answered to the satisfaction of the students by the presenter. Later, the students were taken to the department where the procured milk from various places is brought to the factory. The milk samples are tested for quality check and then transferred to the tanks where the impurities are removed by applying centripetal force. After removing the impurities, the milk is then transferred to the SILOs which have a capacity to hold 1 Lakh litres of milk. The milk is then pasteurized by heating it to 72 degrees centigrade held for 15 seconds and then rapidly cooled down to 4 degrees centigrade so that all the pathogens and bacteria present in the milk are killed and it does not spoil for at least 48 hours. The pasteurized milk is then packaged/ transferred to insulated vans which ferry them to the desired Mother Dairy outlets in Delhi NCR region.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit which was full of learning for them since they understood the procurement, quality check, production, packaging and distribution function of the plant.
