DISHA provided these underprivileged children much-needed opportunities to play, read and learn. Classes – taught by faculty coordinators of the club and enthusiastic student volunteers – helped children to grow in confidence and develop skills that narrow the gulf between them and better-off youngsters.

“DISHA – The Social Service Club” of I.T.S - U.G. Campus helped them to get admitted to schools, and explained to their parents why education is worthwhile. Older children from Vasundhara Sector – 14 slum area helped the younger ones to understand their rights, and set examples that they are keen to follow.
In continuance of our efforts, the student volunteers of the day from “Disha” – The Social Service Club were Akash, Anjali, Lakshay, Chaya, Chirag, Divyanshu, Mannan & Keshav.
The volunteers first had an interactive Session with the children on the topic “Sharing is Caring”. The idea behind this particular topic of discussion was quite impromptu and it was suggested by one of the student volunteers – Chirag, as Some of the children were not carrying with them the mats that they were previously provided for sitting during sessions. The student volunteers advised them to share the available mats among themselves so that all can be seated comfortably and study. Hence, highlighting the importance of sharing. The main purpose of the Interaction was to talk to them about providing regular help to each other in Academics & otherwise. The topic was well taken by pupils of all ages residing in Vasundhara slums.
Then, the focus of the session shifted towards academics, and the volunteers helped the children in solving the problems they were facing in completing their Holiday Home Work. Problems in subjects like Mathematics & English were discussed at length. In the end, keeping in mind the chilly weather, peanuts were distributed among the children which they enjoyed munching after the session.
