     A child always remains in the corner of the heart of everyone. This is an opportunity to relive those childhood days and memories. Starlighters- Dance and Music Club of I.T.S UG Campus took this onus by organizing “Back to Childhood - a dance competition” on Children’s Day November 14, 2018 at Dronacharya Auditorium from 2:40 pm to 4:30pm.

    Students from BBA/BCA participated in the competition and have shown their talent by performing on songs of their childhood. Aishwarya Pandey from BBA Ist Year won the First prize and Mradul Mahesh from BCA III year won Second prize. Winners were awarded with Trophies and Certificates by Director UG- Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Vice-Principal UG - Prof. Nancy Sharma and Ms. Pavitra Tyagi - the eminent judge of the Event.

     I.T.S Mohan Nagar Campus organized an Indian Classical Music programme “A Tribute to Indian Classical Music” under the Aegis of SPIC-MACAY on November 13, 2018.


    The programme was inaugurated through lamp lighting ceremony, in the presence of Pt. Abhay Rustum Sopori along with his renowned musicians & artists Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri & Shri Rishi Shankar Upadhyay, Honorable Chairman, I.T.S Group- Dr. R.P.Chadha, Vice Chairman- Sh. Arpit Chadha, Director U.G- Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director – Management – Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director IT – Dr. Sunil Pandey, Vice-Principal – UG – Prof. Nancy Sharma, Prof. Namita Dixit (Coordinator – SPICMACAY) and all the faculties.
    Director UG- Dr. Vidya Sekhri highlighted that music creates not just emotions, it also changes the very chemistry of our system. She also added that Indian Classical Music has been recognized throughout the world.

     Pt. Abhay Rustum Sopori – Santoor Music Maestro from Sufiana gharana of Indian classical music and a recipient of Ustaad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar (2006) and many more. He along with his renowned musicians & artists Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri & Shri Rishi Shankar Upadhyay Pakhawaj, mesmerized the audience with his spell bound performance from 10:30 a.m in Chanakya Auditorium of I.T.S Campus. He played various instrumental classical music with the strings of his ‘Santoor’. The melodies of Classical music bestowed by noted performers enthralled the audience for a magical experience. It was a wonderful programme appreciated by all and the audience was taken aback by the melodious classical music.

     To enhance knowledge and to give exposure of corporate practices, a guest lecture was organized on “Goods & Service Tax” for BBA III & V Semester students. The resource person was Ms. Neha Gupta, Practicing Chartered Accountant & Corporate Trainer. 

    The lecture comprised of both theoretical as well as practical aspects of the topic. The session was very interactive as students asked a number of questions related to GST acts, implications, Registration process, different chapters of GST rule book appointment of directors etc. and speaker answered all the questions of the students with keen interest quoting the examples from the practical approach. Students appreciated the knowledgeable session a lot.

     Cultural diversity is the forte of our nation. I.T.S has always strived at promoting holistic development of young minds. SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) aims to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it.


    In order to foster diversified skills, I.T.S Mohan Nagar Campus is going to organize an Indian Classical Music programme “A Tribute to Indian Classical Music” under the Aegis of SPIC-MACAY on November 13, 2018.
    Pt. Abhay Rustum Sopori – santoor music maestro along  with his renowned musicians & artists will mesmerize the audience with their spell bound performance from 10:30 a.m in Chanakya Auditorium of I.T.S Campus

    Abhay ji  is from Srinagar in Kashmir Valley and belongs to the Sufiana gharana of Indian classical music. He is the son of Pt. Bhajan Sopori from whom he learned santoor in the traditional guru-shishya parampara. Abhay ji started his musical career in 1997 in Delhi. He has around thirty albums and releases, and he has given performances around the world. His performances abroad include those in the USA, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

    Abhay ji has collaborated with international musicians such as Moroccan lute player Haj Younis, Iranian santoor player Darius Saghafi and American dulcimer player Malcolm Dalgish and  won the Ustaad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar in 2006. He was also awarded the Jammu and Kashmir state award in 2011. He was the youngest ever recipient of the award. His other awards include National Dogri award (2009), Bharat shiromani award (2009), Ma Sharika Samman (2009), Sangeet Bhushan Award (2007), Kalawant Samman (2004), Glory of India award amongst others.

    Sopori was conferred the Juenjo Korean international heritage award in 2005.

The objective of an industry visit is to provide the students an insight into internal working of companies. Theoretical knowledge is not enough for a successful professional career. With an aim to go beyond academics, I.T.S. U.G. Campus plans an industry visit to Yakult Danone, Haryana for BCA second year students. It will provide the students an opportunity to learn through interaction and analysis of work methods and practices.
